Acest nor a inceput sa se prabuseasca sub propria sa greutate si sa se invarteasca in loc. Cu timpul s-a format un disc mai dens si mai cald la interior, materia a devenit suficient de calda si de densa incat noua stea sa capete lumina si caldura proprie. In urmatorii 100 de milioane de ani particule solide din imensul nor de praf si gaz, s-au aglomerat si-au format planetele. Cele din apropierea Soarelui s-au format din aglomerarea unor blocuri de roca, ca Mercur , venus, Pamant si marte. Jupiter, saturn, uranus si neptun, aflate in regiunile exterioare s-au format din roci amestecate cu gheata care au atras mai apoi mari cantitati din gazul emanat de norul din care proveneau. Soarele Ca majoritatea stelelor Soarele este format in general din Hidrogen 71% Hidrogen, 27% Heliu si 2% alte elemente. In centrul Soarelui temperatura este de aproape 16.000.000 K si densitatea de 150 de ori mai mare decat cea a apei. In aceste conditii nucleii atomilor individuali de hidrogen interactioneaza; in acest proces doi nuclei a doi atomi de hidrogen se combina formand un atom cu nucleu de heliu, energia eliberata sub forma de radiatii gamma. Aceasta energie este echivalenta cu cea eliberata de explozia a 100 de miliarde de bombe cu hidrogen pe secunda (constanta solara: 1,94 cal/cm2/min). Soarele este format dintr-o parte centrala si atmosfera solara. El executa o miscare de rotatie in jurul propriei axe la Ecuator in 27 de zile si spre poli in 31 de zile. In interiorul Soarelui temperaturile pot ajunge pana la 14 milioane de grade, iar presiunea este de 100 de milioane de ori mai mare decat cea din centrul Pamantului. Aici in fiecare minut, 400 de milioane de tone de hidrogen se transforama in heliu. Atmosfera solara este compusa din: Fotosfera se gaseste la baza atmosferei si are temperaturi de aproape 6000C. intreaga lumina a Soarelui provine de la acest invelis de grosime mai mica de 300 km. Vazuta de la distanta ea se prezinta ca o retea de granule (bule de gaz de marimi foarte mari ce apar, se modifica si dispar in aproiximativ 10 minute) aflate in permanenta miscare. La suprafata fotosferei se pot observa pete mai intunecate numite pete solare care apar odata la 11 ani si au o durata de cateva saptamani sau uneori chiar luni. Aceste pete pot masura pana la 2000 de km, au o temperatura de 4500C si contin campuri magnetice cu o putere de nu mai putin de 2500 de gauss. In comparatie cu Pamantul al carui camp magnetic are o putere de un gauss. Petele solare tind sa ocupe aceleasi latitudini in fiecare emisfera. Aceasta latitudine variaza de la 45 la 5 in timpul ciclului solar de 11 ani. Cromosfera si coroana solara sunt invelisurile exterioare ale Soarelui. Cromosfera are o grosime de 5.000 de km, temperatura sa crescand odata cu altitudinea ajungand pana la 20.000C. Coroana in schimb nu are o forma bine delimitata, este foarte rarefiata si cu o temperatura ce depaseste un milion de grade. Exista unele regiuni ale cromosferei care devin deodata foarte stralucitoare, numite eruptii solare, urmate de jeturi imense de gaz, protuberante, ce se ridica in cromosfera si coroana. Ele au aspectul unor filamente intunecate. Planetele In sistemul solar se cunosc 9 planete: Mercur, Venus, Pamant, Marte, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptun, Pluto, dar se presupune ca ar mai exista o planeta intre Soare si Mercur, si planeta Vulcan dincolo de Pluto. Dar se stie cu siguranta ca exista intre Marte si Jupiter o planeta numita Phaeton. Acestea se invartesc in jurul Soarelui (in sensul acelor de ceasornic, la distante cuprinse intre 45,9 milioane de km si 7,4 miliarde km) pe orbite bine stabilite. Planetele telurice Planetele situate cel mai aproape de Soare (Mercur, Venus, Pamant si Marte) sunt alcatuite din roci dense si au o scoarta solida. Ele sunt de talie mijlocie cu diametrul variand intre 5.000 de km (Mercur) si sub 13.000 de km (Pamantul). Mercur Se afla la 58 de milioane de km de Soare, are o miscare de revolutie de 88 de zile si de rotatie in 58,6 zile. Este lipsita de atmosfera, si temperaturile in timpul zilei pot ajunge pana la 400C. Aceasta planeta este formata predominant din fier (peste 50%). Venus Este situata la 108 milioane km de Soare, parcurgandu-si orbita in 225 de zile, iar rotatia in jurul axei sale dureaza 243 de zile (are loc de la Est la Vest). Atmosfera sa este compusa din 96% gaz carbonic si 3,5% azot. Valul gros de nori situat la o altitudine de 50-70 km provoaca ploi de acid sulfuric. Temperatura solului ajunge pana la 460C. la fel ca Mercur Venus nu are sateliti. Pamantul Se afla la aproximativ 150 de milioane de km de Soare. Efectueaza miscarea de revolutie in 365 de zile, iar cea de rotatie in jurul propriei axe in 23 h 56 min 4 sec. Are un diametru de 12.700 de km, fiind cea mai voluminoasa dintre planetele telurice. Atmosfera lui este formata din are, un amestec de gaz cu 78% azot si 28% oxigen. In compozitia chimica a Pamantului se gaseste 47% oxigen, 28% siliciu, 7,9% aluminiu, 4,5% fier, 3,5% calciu, 2,5% sodiu, 2,5% potasiu, 2,2% magneziu. Temperatura cea mai ridicata pe Pamant este cea de +58C in Libia, iar cea mai scazuta de 89,9C in Antarctica. Scoata Pamantului este formata din: litosfera, atmosfera, biosfera, pedosfera si antroposfera sau sociosfera. Pamantul are un singur satelit natural: Luna.  Marte Este situata la 228 de milioane de km de Soare. Ea inconjoara Soarele in 687 de zile si se invarteste in jurul propriei axe in 23 h 37 min. Diametrul sau reprezinta aproape din jumatate din diametrul Pamantului. Invelisul sau atmosferic contine 95,3% gaz carbonic, 2,7% azot, 1,6% argon si foarte putin oxigen. Temperatura la sol scade pana la -50C si nu depaseste niciodata 20C. La suprafata se pot gasi unii dintre cei mai mari vulcani ai sistemului solar (20 km). Uneori au loc furtuni violente ce ridica nori de praf. In jurul lui Marte se invartesc doi sateliti: Phobos si Deimos. Planetele Gigant Jupiter si Saturn sunt cele mai mari planete din sistemul solar. Diametrul lui Jupiter este de 11 ori mai mare decat cel al Pamantului, iar cel a lui Saturn de 9 ori mai mare. Suprafata acestor planete nu este solida ci doar nucleul format din roci si gheata. Atmosfera lor este densa si bazata pe hidrogen si heliu. Ele sunt inconjurate de inele si compuse dintr-o multime de blocuri de gheata si pulberi ce se invart in jurul planetei precum niste sateliti mici. Jupiter Se gaseste la 778 de milioane de km de Soare. Acest gigant este inconjurat de o atmosfera densa, pe baza de hidrogen si heliu, in care circula nori formati tot din gaze solidificate sau lichefiate (metan si amoniac). Are o miscare de rototie de 10 h. Norii din jurul acestei planete sunt foarte turbulenti, unul dintre aceste formatiuni noroase a pus pe ganduri multi dintre cercetatori; acesta forma o pata imensa de culoare rosie, fiind de fapt un uragan permanent de patru ori mai mare decat Pamantul. De la suprafata norilor unde temperatura este de -148C spre interiorul planetei atat temperatura cat si presiunea creste. In centru temperatura ajunge la 30.000C iar presiunea este de 100 de milioane de ori mai mare decat cea de la suprafata Pamantului. Jupiter are 16 sateliti naturali Io, Europa, Ganimede, Callisto, acestia fiind de talia lunii. Ceilalti 14 sateliti ai aceste planete au diametrele de cateva zeci de km. Saturn A doua mare planeta din sistemul nostru solar, are un diametru de 9,5 ori mai mare decat cel al Pamantului, de 95 de ori masa acestuia si de750 de ori vulumul lui. Este situat la 1,4 miliarde de km distanta de Soare. Miscarea de rotatie este la fel ca cea a lui Jupiter, insa aceasta planeta este mai putin densa si chiar arputea pluti pe apa deoarece este compusa mai mult din hidrogen. Temperatura cea mai joasa se inregistreaza deasupra norilor ce-l inconjoara -180C. aceasta planeta emite de trei ori mai multa caldura decat cea primita de la Soare. Saturn are 18 sateliti dintre care cei mai cunoscuti sunt giganticul Titan, mai mare decat Mercur.  Planetele indepartate Sunt planetele situate cel mai departe de soare si sunt formate in majoritate din gaze usoare si sunt ingonjurate de inele. Uranus A fost descoperita in 1781 de catre William Herschel. Se afla la 2,8 miliarde km de soare, are un diametru de patru ori mai mare decat cel al pamantului si de 15 ori masa lui. In atmosfera acestei planete se gasesc hidrogen, heliu si metan (care da planetei culoarea albastra). Datorita temperaturii scazute de -200C, se crede ca nucleul alcatuit din roci este acoperit de un invelis dens de gheata. Planeta are 10 inele (42.000 si 51.000 km de centrul planetei) si 15 sateliti. Neptun A fost descoperita in 1846 de francezul Urbain Le Verrier. Planeta se gaseste la 4,5 miliarde km de soare. Atmosfera sa difera de cea a lui Uranus, cercetatorii observand nori deplasati de vanturi ce sufla cu 1.000 de km pe ora. La fel ca pe Jupiter exista o mare pata intunecata, de marimea pamantului, acesta fiind de fapt un uragan enorm. Neptun emana de 2,7 ori mai multa energie decat primeste de la soare. Planeta are 8 sateliti cunoscuti dintre care Triton este cel mai rece corp din sistemul solar. Pluto Distanta fata de soare a acestei planete variaza intre 4,4 si 7,4 miliarde de km (datorita orbitei sale ce se aseamana cu o elipsa alungita). A fost descoperita in 1930 si este cea mai indepartata planeta fata de soare. Se crede ca planeta are un nucleu solid de roci invelit in gheata, iar suprafata sa ar fi acoperita cu azot si metan inghetat. Pluto are un singur satelit numit Charon descoperit in 1978. Asteroizi. Comete. Meteoriti si meteori Asteroizi. Sunt planete mici cu forme neregulate ale carui dimensiuni nu depasesc cateva sute de km si care nu au atmosfera. Au fost descoperiti pana acum 5.000 de asteroizi cei mai multi intre orbita lui Marte si cea a lui Jupiter, iar altii dincolo de Neptun si Pluto. Cel mai mare descoperit vreodata este Ceres cu un diametru sub 1.000 de km. Comete. Cometele sunt mici astre formate din roci si gheata, care degaja cantitati importante de gaz si pulberi si care devin luminoase cand se apropie de soare. Au nucleul de cativa km format dintr-un amestec de gheata, roca si pulbere. In apropiere de soare acesta emana gaze ce formeaza o coama luminoasa, alungita in directia opusa soarelui. Aceasta coama este alcatuita din gaz si pulbere de culoare galbena-albastruie. Cand cometele isi pierd gazul devin asteroizi. Si ele urmeaza anumite orbite ca de exemplu cometa Halley care revine la fiecare 76 de ani. Meteori si meteoriti. Meteorul este un fenomen luminos provocat de intrarea in atmosfera a unui corp solid venit din spatiu; adeseori sunt numiti si stele cazatoare. Meteoritul este un corp solid venit din spatiul interplanetar care cade la suprafata unei planete. Se crede ca prabusirea unui meteorit imens pe pamant este cauza disparitiei a numeroase specii de animale dintre care si dinozaurii. Dovezi ale impactului unui meteorit cu pamantul este Meteor Crater, din Statele Unite, Arizona, care are un diametru de peste 1.200 m si o adancime de 180 m. se pare ca acest meteorit a lovit pamantul cu 50.000 de ani in urma. Stelele Nasterea unei stele dureaza milioane de ani si are mai multe etape: in interiorul unui nor molecular se formeaza globule, care devin protostele si apoi stele. Norii moleculari In unele nebuloase (imensi nori de gaz si pulbere) materia este mai densa si mai concentrata si formeaza nori moleculari (ce se afl intr-un echilibru foarte fragil). Masa lor poate fi mai mare decat a soarelui si temperatura materiei este foarte scazuta -250 pana la -260C. orice unda de soc provenita de la explozia unei stele apropiate poate distruge acest echilibru si norul se fragmenteaza in roiuri de materie. Globulele Roiurile rezultate din distrugerea norilor se transforma cu timpul in globule intunecate. Aceste globule au masa de 200 de ori mai mare ca cea a soarelui, sunt de marimea intregului sistem solar, au temperaturi scazute si sunt intunecate. Cu trecerea timpului devine mai densa si mai calda si se transforma in protostea care straluceste. Protostelele Au sclipirea neregulata deoarece sunt inconjurate de gaze. In interior temperaturile pot ajunge la 10 milioane de grade declansand reactii nucleare. Unei protostele normale ii ia aproximativ 30 de milioane de ani sa devina o stea, asta depinde de masa sa, dar pentru o stea de marimea soarelui durata este doar de 300.000de ani. Stelele tinere Odata nascute stelele isi iau energia din fuziunea heliului cu hidrogenul, un proces a carui durata tine in functie de masa stelei. Pentru o stea ca soarele acesta dureaza 10 miliarde de ani, pentru una de trei ori mai mare 500 de miloane de ani iar pentru una de 30 de ori mai masiva numai 6 milioane de ani. Cu cat sunt mai grele la nastere cu atat sunt mai stralucitoare. Cand hidrogenul din centrul stelei nu mai este suficient aceasta se mareste devine mai calda si-si schimba culoarea devenind o giganta rosie. Diametrul sau devine de la 10-pana la 100 de ori mai mare decat al soarelui si in centrul sau heliul se transforma in carbon. Piticele albe Cand heliul din interior devine carbon steau se cvontracta si devine o pitica alba, insuficient de calda pentru a declansa noi reactii nucleare. Cu timpul steaua se raceste incetul cu incetul si devine o pitic neagr incapabila sa mai straluceasca. Supernovele Cele mai mari stele produc elemente grele ca fierul, ele isi modific raza, aceasta devenind de 1000 de ori mai mare dect cea a soarelui. Gazele din interiorul stelei explodeaz, ea devine de 10 miliarde de ori mai luminoas dect soarele si se numeste supernov. Dupa explozie rmne numai miezul stelei si in functie de masa stelei aceasta devine fie o stea cu neutroni fie o gaur neagr. Stelele de neutroni Miezul ramas se comprima si se reduce la dimensiunea unei mici sfere cu diametrul de 20 km si cu masa de 500 de milioane de tone/cm3. Materia ramasa din steaua explodata devine comprimata asa incat atomii sunt striviti. Stelele de neutroni sunt foarte mici si putin luminoase incat nu pot fi observate. Gaurile negre In alte cazuri miezul stelei explodate se transforma intr-o gaura neagra cu diametrul de doar cativa km, cu o densitate nemaipomenita, o gravitatie imensa si cu o forta de atractie deosebit de mare, inghitind chiar si propria sa lumina (de unde ii vine si numele). Din cauza naturii lor nu sunt vizibile. Sateliti naturali Luna Este singurul satelit natural al pamantului si este astrul cel mai apropiat de acesta, aflandu-se la o distant de aproximativ 384.400 km. Luna are un diametru de 3.467 km se invrate in jurul proprie axei in patru saptamani si nu are lumin proprie ea reflectnd-o pe cea primit de la soare. Astrul are doua fete una vazut, cea pe care este spre soare, si fata pe care nu o arat soarelui numit fata invizibil. Luna are mai multe faze, rezultatul schimbarii pozitiei fata de soare: cand soarele se afla intre luna si pamant, luna nu se poate vedea, aceasta faza se numeste lun nou. Dupa dou sau trei zile luna se arat incetul cu incetul intr-o sptmn parcurgnd un sfert din orbita sa in jurul pmntului acum se spune ca luna este in primul ptrar. Dupa ce a parcurs jumatate din orbita luna intra in cea de a treia faza: cea de lun plin (cand luna se afla intr-o pozitie opusa soarelui fata de pamant). Apoi se distinge din nou jumatate din discul lunar luna intrand in ultimul patrar. Dupa aceea dispare si ciclul se reia din nou. Satelitii principali ai lui Jupiter Este unul dintre satelitiii naturali ai lui Jupiter, pe el exista numerosi vulcani activi (Pele) in ciuda suprafetei inghetate. Materia din interiorul planetei este mereu intr-o continua miscare si este permanent incalzita. Aceasta iese la suprafata prin intermediul vulcanilor. Lava de sulf este aruncata cu peste 3.000 de km/h la o inaltime de peste 200 de m. Suprafata sa are un aspect bizar: galben-maroniu si suprefete albe (oxid de sulf). Io si Europa, mai apropiate de Jupiter, sunt dense si solide . Ganimede si Callisto, aflate la distante mai mari, sunt compuse in general din gheata si au densitatea mai mica. Callisto este aproape la fel de mare ca Mercur, si Ganimede este mai mare decat el. Daca ar orbita soarele, ar pute fi considerate planete. Crusta de gheataale acestor doua corpuri ceresti, sunt marcate de numeroase cratere provenind probabil de la un recent bombardament de meteoriti. In contrast, suprfata Europei este foarte neteda. Probabil datorita faptului ca este acoperita de gheata, provenind din interiorul planetei; foarte probabil ca sub scoarta de gheata sa existe apa.
